Please read our extracurricular activities policy. 

Please note that:

  • You can register your child(ren) to activities directly with the activity provider (via email or registration form). The registration information can be found on our website under each activity.
  • After registration, the activity provider will email information about the activity (rules, cancellation, payment system, teaching method, aims etc.).
  • Each activity provider will send invoices directly to the parents at the beginning of each month and parents pay the provider.

Chess Club offers children an exciting opportunity to develop logical thinking, concentration, problem-solving skills, and strategic planning through the game of chess. Whether your child is taking their first steps into the world of chess or already has playing experience, we provide a supportive environment where every young player can learn and grow.

We plan to organize two groups:

Beginner Group
Designed for children who are new to chess and are just starting to learn the game. Participants will learn piece movements, basic rules, and the fundamental principles of chess.
Lesson duration: 50 minutes

Advanced Group
For children who already know how to play chess and would like to further develop their skills, improve their game strategy, and gain more playing experience.
Lesson duration: 60 minutes

Both groups will meet twice a week, providing regular practice and steady progress throughout the school year.

Active Studio invites nursery level girls and boys to a dance and body movement class! 

This is a developing and fun class, where we engage in rhythm and dance games, develop coordination and enhance physical flexibility, learn how to move to music, be creative, do different exercises and dance.

Marianne is a passionate and energetic dance instructor who loves inspiring kids through movement and music. With a warm and encouraging teaching style, she makes every class fun while helping children build confidence, coordination, and creativity.

My name is Kerli.  I work in TES as a substitute teacher. I have more than 6 years’ experience in teaching Estonian language to children whose mother language is not Estonian.  Last four years I was leading the Estonian club for Nursery children, and I will continue the club this year.

In our club, we concentrate on learning the basic language skills that we are using in daily base: expressions of politeness, greetings, introducing yourself, colours, numbers, food, clothes, animals etc. The learning takes place through songs, rhymes, fun games, and activities.

My after-school football club offers fun and safe sessions designed for all football enthusiasts, whatever their level of experience. Each lesson is packed with engaging and achievable activities that keep children moving while helping them develop their gross motor skills. Every child will enjoy individual time with the ball, as well as opportunities to work together with others, with the focus firmly on enjoyment and teamwork. If this sounds like something your child would love, I would be delighted to welcome them, come and give it a go!

In robotics all of the STEAM subjects are embedded – Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering and Arts.
So we can say robotics is the broadest approach to the study of natural sciences there is.
In the robotics club the child develops the Skills of the 21st Century – Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving.
In this club we use Lego Educational sets, also other smaller robots like Ozobots and Sphero Minis.

The club is led by Triin Laats.
Triin possesses extensive experience working with children and youth; she has also completed various robotics-related training courses—including instructor training—both in Estonia and abroad.
In addition, Triin has studied programming herself, possesses relevant skills and experience, and is a certified software tester.
As an individual, Triin is curious and loves acquiring new knowledge; as an instructor, she supports the learning process and excels at creating a system for the students.

The Nursery Theatre Club is a playful theatre studio for Nursery children. The aim of this club is to introduce the world of theatre and acting to children through playful and engaging activities, which foster teamwork, imagination, exploration and support in building confidence and self-expression skills. The club will be held in English.

My name is Margaret and I’m currently starting my third year at TES as an assistant in Nursery. I have a background in Theatre Research from the University of Tartu and have been part of an amateur theatre troupe based in Tallinn Old Town for the past 12 years. Last year I completed a course on teaching Theatre and Drama in school. I’m very happy to put my experience and knowledge to use with TES’ brilliant and creative little students.

Sensory & Mindfulness Club is a fun and engaging weekly club designed to help nursery and lower primary children explore their senses, develop body awareness and build confidence through movement and play. Each session combines playful sensory activities with exercises that support coordination, balance, focus and emotional regulation, followed by calming mindfulness, breathing and relaxation activities. The club is open to all children, with particular benefits for those who may need additional support with emotional expression, attention and concentration, self-regulation, or managing high levels of energy and stimulation. A joyful, inclusive space where children can move, explore, connect and calm while developing skills that support their everyday learning and wellbeing.

The goal of this activity is to develop children’s vocal and rhythmic skills, foster their musical creativity, and encourage self-expression through music. Through engaging games, we introduce basic musical concepts and skills, teach new songs, and explore singing and movement activities. We listen to music and express ourselves creatively, develop cooperation and creativity by playing instruments, learn to notice and listen to each other, enhance motor skills, persistence, and concentration, and improve self-awareness and self-esteem.

Annika Land-Reisser has been a Music Teacher at Tallinn European School since 2022. She graduated from Viljandi Music School with a major in piano and obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Pedagogy and Choir Conducting from the Estonian Academy of Music. She has worked as a teacher-conductor with the Tallinn Boys Choir and in the studios “Väike Muusik” and “Jo-Le-Mi”.

A fun, hands-on cooking club where children learn to prepare simple, healthy and delicious dishes while developing practical cooking skills, creativity and independence.
The programme includes 31 cooking sessions in total, taking place from September 2026 to May 2027.

The club is led by Matus Lazorik, an experienced teacher with more than 10 years of experience working with children, including several years at Tallinn European School. He holds a degree in Pre-Primary Education and a professional cooking diploma, combining teaching expertise with a strong passion for and extensive knowledge of cooking.

A hands-on cooking club where kids build real kitchen skills step by step across the year — from kitchen safety and no-cook prep through knife skills, stovetop cooking, baking. Every recipe is built around whole, unprocessed ingredients, with a focus on cutting down on added sugar and processed foods — several sessions even compare a homemade dish to its store-bought equivalent.

Suviliis Sakk is a language teacher at Tallinn European School with a deep interest in cooking and health. She has more than three years of experience running cooking classes for children.

Learn how to draw on a tablet in a cool and easy way!

In this course we will learn how to use the tablet, procreate program and imagination to create amazing visual projects such as paintings, landscapes, game characters, stickers, animations and much more.

The tablet and modern technology provide a lot of opportunities and tools for creativity and make the process of drawing to be a wonderful developmental activity. On interesting projects (during the course we make more than 30 projects) we will learn Procreate tools, different techniques of drawing and computer graphics, learn to save and share our creations, and make our own digital albums.

The course will be very useful for children dreaming of drawing beautifully on a tablet and will be a great start for learning computer graphics.

To participate in the course a talent for drawing is optional, everyone will success.

Meri Martirosyan.  Meri is an experienced teacher with over six years of experience in teaching coding, 3D graphics, digital drawing and robotics to kids of different ages at XTeadus STEM School. She is passionate about 3D design, digital art and new technologies.  Meri is a mother of two kids. She believes that success in the technological world begins with small steps, and these can be taken in an exciting way from an early age.

The aim of the drama club is mostly to let the pupils feel free without thinking what others think of them. We will do much improvisation and different games to get more contact with our body and mind (that’s the base or fundament for actors). The focus will be on concentration and the basic knowledge about acting. We’ll do improvisation and written scenes in the studio but it doesn’t need to come out as a whole play. At least if the participants want, then we will do a little performance at the end of the school year.

I graduated from the film school in London – The International School of Screen Acting. So I’m a freelance actress now and I have several plays during the season and different projects on the screen (commercials, series, short films etc.). I have been a drama club teacher for high school students for 8 years. Before acting school I graduated from the University of Tartu (science of theatre and special needs as well) with a bachelor degree.
I was the drama club tutor last school year and as I can see I need replacement sometimes. I have plays in different places in Estonia and sometimes there will be filming days on the set. So there will be another girl who will help me out as a guest tutor. Her name is Roberta.

Roberta Vaino. She has said: I am a musician, performer and creative writing teacher with over eight years of experience teaching children creative writing and songwriting, primarily in English. I have also worked as an actor at Salme Theatre and have completed several theatre and acting trainings. I am passionate about creating a supportive and playful environment where children can express themselves, explore their creativity and build confidence through drama, storytelling and performance.

Drama club is suitable for Primary and Secondary groups. Let’s see how many students we’ll have and after the registration I know if we do two groups or have one big one. Last year it was one group and we managed it well with children aged 6-12.

My name is Kerli. My hobby has been handicraft since I was at school myself. I would like to share basic knowledges about crocheting, sewing, punch needling and embroidering. In addition, we use other interesting techniques, tools and materials. Come join me and let’s create together with our hands something magical!

All materials and tools are given by me.  

Most schoolchildren first encounter Japan through anime. We want to offer children an opportunity to learn more about this unique culture and a language that is very different and distinctive from a European perspective.

Children will learn about the Japanese writing systems — there are as many as three! They will practise calligraphy and explore Japanese songs and games, cuisine, and anime. We will also talk about Japanese culture, geography, and history.

By the end of the academic year, club participants will know that Japanese uses several writing systems and that each hiragana character represents a specific sound. They will understand and be able to pronounce vocabulary related to the topics covered and will be able to write their own name in Japanese.

This club is organised in cooperation with the language school Kantan Education. The teacher, Roman Laydan, studies Japanese language and culture at Tallinn University. Roman has lived in Japan, he enjoys authentic Japanese activities, especially calligraphy and tea ceremony as well as Japanese music. He wants to share his interest towards Japanese culture with children.

Jiu Jitsu is a fun martial art and active way to develop strength, coordination, confidence, and problem-solving skills. Classes combine movement, games, drills, and age-appropriate techniques.

Rob, originally from Canada with Filipino roots, has lived in Estonia since 2011. A father of three. Rob teaches kids jiu jitsu, Adult Jiu-Jitsu Essentials and is co-founder of Node Grappling and has a brown belt in jiu-jitsu.

Learn coding basics and computer science in engaging Minecraft.

This course will teach children a wide range of skills – coding, 3D modelling and will also develop soft skills- like working in teams, communication, creativity.

The core of the course is Minecraft Education edition – powerful and engaging tool that enables kids to learn coding basics inside Minecraft game. During the course we will create different engineering projects in Minecraft and take the first steps in coding using blocks. Topics that will be covered:  algorithms, loop, condition, triggers, events, parameters, functions etc. Kids will see how coding can change regular Minecraft game and make created game worlds unique.

This course is a great introduction to coding and computer science.

Meri is an experienced teacher with over seven years of experience in teaching coding, 3D graphics, digital drawing and robotics to kids of different ages at XTeadus STEM School. She is passionate about 3D design, digital art and new technologies.  Meri is a mother of two kids. She believes that success in the technological world begins with small steps, and these can be taken in an exciting way from an early age.

Join the Table Tennis Fun with Tim Heath! Back again for another exciting year.

Is your child ready to dive into the exciting world of Table Tennis? Tim Heath invites students of all skill levels to join this engaging after-school club, where the focus is on fun, growth, and a healthy dose of competition. Whether your child is picking up a paddle for the first time or has some experience, they’ll find a welcoming environment designed to build confidence, improve skills, and foster a love for the game.

Due to high demand, please sign up early – in the event that there are too many registered, priority will be given to those who were part of the club last year with others added to the waiting list.

The club is now going to be for 1 hour each week.

Through a mix of games, drills, and matches, participants will enhance their abilities at a pace that suits them. This isn’t Olympic training, but a place where every student can thrive, learn, and enjoy the sport—regardless of their starting point. Tim is dedicated to nurturing each child’s potential, ensuring they stay active, progress steadily, and most importantly, have fun with friends.

Please Note: Each student must bring their own table tennis bat, which will be for their individual use during the sessions.

The Primary Estonian Club is a great way for TES students to start or continue their Estonian learning journey. The goal of this club is to give pupils the opportunity to discover and engage with Estonian language and culture, whether their families are simply staying temporarily or looking to put down roots.

I have previous experience teaching Estonian as both an L1 and L2. I am passionate about languages and sharing them with others. As for my main role at TES, I am a Nursery assistant teacher in the French section group.

Hello, my name is Young Hun JUNG, a Taekwondo Master officially dispatched by the Korean Government (Kukkiwon) to Estonia in 2018. I hold a 5th Dan black belt in Taekwondo and currently serve as the Poomsae National Team Coach of Estonia.

Secondary

Thursdays, 16:00–18:00

The Board Game Club is a place for secondary students to discover and enjoy both classic and modern board games and card games together.
 
During the club, we will learn to play different types of games, from quick and accessible games to more strategic and challenging ones. Along the way, we’ll develop skills such as logical thinking, planning, communication, cooperation, decision-making, and problem-solving.
 
Just as importantly, board games are a good way to practice the social side of playing: explaining rules, playing fairly, working with others, and learning to win (and lose) gracefully.
 
The Club meets on school premises every Thursday from 16:00 to 18:00. Students whose lessons finish later are welcome to join as soon as their school day ends.
 
Try the club
The first Board Game Club session in September is free of charge for students who register in advance. Students can use this session to meet the group, try some games and decide whether they would like to join.
 
During the rest of the school year, the last Board Game Club session of each month is also open to prospective new members for one free trial session, subject to available places and advance registration.

The club is run by Steven Segaert, Dutch Language 1 teacher at Tallinn European School. Board games have been a long-standing personal interest of mine, and I especially enjoy games that bring people together around strategy, cooperation, creativity or deduction.
My aim is to create a relaxed club where students can discover new games, meet students from other classes and enjoy playing together in a friendly setting.
 

Chess Club offers children an exciting opportunity to develop logical thinking, concentration, problem-solving skills, and strategic planning through the game of chess. Whether your child is taking their first steps into the world of chess or already has playing experience, we provide a supportive environment where every young player can learn and grow.

We plan to organize two groups:

Beginner Group
Designed for children who are new to chess and are just starting to learn the game. Participants will learn piece movements, basic rules, and the fundamental principles of chess.
Lesson duration: 50 minutes

Advanced Group
For children who already know how to play chess and would like to further develop their skills, improve their game strategy, and gain more playing experience.
Lesson duration: 60 minutes

Both groups will meet twice a week, providing regular practice and steady progress throughout the school year.

Built on the hands-on approach, pitched at a more independent level — students practice knife work, run the stovetop themselves, make yeasted dough from scratch, and finish the year planning and cooking a full balanced meal on their own. Focus on whole foods and cutting down on processed ingredients and added sugar.

Suviliis Sakk is a language teacher at Tallinn European School with a deep interest in cooking and health. She has more than three years of experience running cooking classes for children.

The aim of the drama club is mostly to let the pupils feel free without thinking what others think of them. We will do much improvisation and different games to get more contact with our body and mind (that’s the base or fundament for actors). The focus will be on concentration and the basic knowledge about acting. We’ll do improvisation and written scenes in the studio but it doesn’t need to come out as a whole play. At least if the participants want, then we will do a little performance at the end of the school year.

I graduated from the film school in London – The International School of Screen Acting. So I’m a freelance actress now and I have several plays during the season and different projects on the screen (commercials, series, short films etc.). I have been a drama club teacher for high school students for 8 years. Before acting school I graduated from the University of Tartu (science of theatre and special needs as well) with a bachelor degree.
I was the drama club tutor last school year and as I can see I need replacement sometimes. I have plays in different places in Estonia and sometimes there will be filming days on the set. So there will be another girl who will help me out as a guest tutor. Her name is Roberta.

Roberta Vaino. She has said: I am a musician, performer and creative writing teacher with over eight years of experience teaching children creative writing and songwriting, primarily in English. I have also worked as an actor at Salme Theatre and have completed several theatre and acting trainings. I am passionate about creating a supportive and playful environment where children can express themselves, explore their creativity and build confidence through drama, storytelling and performance.

Drama club is suitable for Primary and Secondary groups. Let’s see how many students we’ll have and after the registration I know if we do two groups or have one big one. Last year it was one group and we managed it well with children aged 6-12.

Most schoolchildren first encounter Japan through anime. We want to offer children an opportunity to learn more about this unique culture and a language that is very different and distinctive from a European perspective.
Children will learn about the Japanese writing systems — there are as many as three! They will practise calligraphy and explore Japanese songs and games, cuisine, and anime. We will also talk about Japanese culture, geography, and history.

By the end of the academic year, club participants will know that Japanese uses several writing systems and that each hiragana character represents a specific sound. They will understand and be able to pronounce vocabulary related to the topics covered and will be able to write their own name in Japanese.

This club is organised in cooperation with the language school Kantan Education. The teacher, Roman Laydan, studies Japanese language and culture at Tallinn University. Roman has lived in Japan, he enjoys authentic Japanese activities, especially calligraphy and tea ceremony as well as Japanese music. He wants to share his interest towards Japanese culture with children.

Jiu Jitsu is a fun martial art and active way to develop strength, coordination, confidence, and problem-solving skills. Classes combine movement, games, drills, and age-appropriate techniques.

Rob, originally from Canada with Filipino roots, has lived in Estonia since 2011. A father of three. Rob teaches kids jiu jitsu, Adult Jiu-Jitsu Essentials and is co-founder of Node Grappling and has a brown belt in jiu-jitsu.

Hello, my name is Young Hun JUNG, a Taekwondo Master officially dispatched by the Korean Government (Kukkiwon) to Estonia in 2018. I hold a 5th Dan black belt in Taekwondo and currently serve as the Poomsae National Team Coach of Estonia.

Individual Lessons

The guitar lessons are a fun way for a student to learn the basics of playing the instrument: playing a piece of music, chords, fingering, solfège and tuning. The lessons require an interest in music and instrument learning and having your own instrument.

Students are welcome from the age of seven.

Annaliisa Rootalu is a young guitar player with a musical degree from Tallinn College of Music and Ballet. She loves playing different styles, ranging from jazz, pop to metal.

An opportunity to get to know your body and voice as an instrument of expression. Learn about breathing and the way your voice works all while singing songs that you like the most. Individual lessons will provide the opportunity to focus on each students needs.

Paula Žuga is a music teacher and singer from Latvia, currently studying jazz singing in the Estonian academy of Music and Theater. With experience in working in schools with children of all ages, conducting choirs, leading ensembles, teaching individual singing and singing herself, she always strives to make a positive and accommodating teaching environment, where the student is encouraged to get out of their comfort zone and feel free in their body.

It’s important to know that bringing music to children’s lives means allowing them to experience the sensitivities of life. And it can help create emotions, like no other activity can produce. Speaking physically, just as the gross motor skills are important to develop through running and jumping activities, the fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination that develop through playing the piano are just as important and could be “more useful” in everyday life. Therefore, if young children have both experiences, the more balanced they will become in life skills, physically and emotionally.

Science tells us that the younger our children start consistently practicing a musical instrument, the earlier their brains engage in what we might think of as an aerobic workout, which leads to better cognitive functions, increased coordination, and eventually better performance in school and other areas of their lives. The challenge is not IF a child should have music lessons at 3 years old, it is IF you can find a qualified teacher and program for that preschool age.

The piano is actually one of the easiest instruments to play as a beginner. That makes it–hands down–the best instrument to begin learning music on. If you want to play another instrument eventually, learn piano first! Other instruments like guitar, trumpet, and violin, take weeks or even months of work just to develop the hand coordination or mouth embouchure. With piano, you can easily play right away just by pressing down a key. Piano is also the easiest instrument for understanding music theory, because scales and intervals are all laid out visually.

KUNSTISTUUDIO DIMAX MTÜ / KRISTIINA GOLIK

 is a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons (45min or 30min) to pupils of all levels and all ages 4+. As a pianist with 28 years of teaching experience and over 30 years of playing, she enjoys motivating her pupils with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. The main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the course of learning piano. If the pupil is interested in a more serious approach, there is also possible to guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams. Recently, her pupils have achieved the highest marks in the ABRSM exams as well as prizes in competitions. We also have a class concert for interested students twice per year. At the end of the course our pupils are getting a Certificate.

Talvi Nurgamaa graduated in Estonia as a string teacher and continued her viola studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She currently teaches at Old Town College Music School and has extensive experience working with children. She has participated in numerous international masterclasses and is always curious to explore, learn and try something new.
